Academy Program
There are 11 NSW Academies involved in the Academy Program. Nine are regional academies and two are metropolitan based.
The academies form an important step in the Player Development Pathway and act as development squads focusing on improving and developing skills.
Each year selections are held around September to January to select squad members to enter the Academy Program. The program generally runs from February through to October. Players aged between 15 and 18 years are eligible to trial for these academies.
Players who are selected into these squads, along with training and development, are also involved in two round robin competitions: The NIB Games held in July each year and also the Academy Games held in October.
These academies also hold development camps and activities for junior under 15 years throughout the year.
The academies program also forms an important step in the Coach and Umpire Development Pathways.
