It has been a busy month for many NSW umpires. They’ve been blowing the whistle at the National Netball Championships in Launceston, travelling the country for the ANZ Championship and now, in their own backyard DOOLEYS State League is about to get into full swing.
Starting off the month of highlights were the four NSW umpires who made the trip to Tasmania for the National Netball Championships. In a first for the NSW umpiring program, all four were appointed to Grand Finals.
Blowing the whistle in the 17/U National Netball Championship Grand Final between NSW and Victoria was Emma Burgess and Rebecca McKinnon, while Courtney Harrington and Bronwyn Adamson got the nod for the 19/U National Netball Championship Grand Final also between NSW and Victoria.
Adding to the excitement for Emma was the announcement that she had also successfully attained her A Badge following her performances at the championship – congratulations Emma!
With the ANZ Championship in full swing, the NSW umpiring program is well represented in the world’s toughest netball competition with five umpires taking the court each weekend. Not only will we be supporting the NSW Swifts, we’ll also be keeping an eye on our NSW umpires: Sharon Kelly, Rachael Ayre, Helen George, Jemma Carlton and Tara Warner.
A special mention to Rachael Ayre and Sharon Kelly who were endorsed for their International Umpire Award (IUA) – congratulations Rachael and Sharon!
There is so much netball happening at all levels of Netball NSW so wherever you are umpiring we wish you every success!
