It was a Sapphire Coast clean-sweep at the 2012 South Coast Regional State League on Saturday at the Netball ACT Centre.

Sapphire Coast won the Division One and Division Two titles but it was not all smooth sailing for them at the round robin event.

In Division One Sapphire Coast had its toughest encounter in the opening round when they edged eventual runners-up Jindabyne by just four goals, but they rallied to finish the competition undefeated.

Division Two was a close tussle between Shoalhaven, defending champion Queanbeyan and eventual winner Sapphire Coast.

Shoalhaven and Queanbeyan both came within two goals of halting Sapphire Coast’s unbeaten run but they could not be stopped.

The fight for runners-up in Division Two came down to the final round. After defeating Shoalhaven by two goals in the penultimate round, an injury-hit Queanbeyan could not match their earlier effort in the final contest, a second versus third clash, allowing Shoalhaven to run away with victory and finish runners-up.

Congratulations to umpire Boonie Turk from Yass Netball Association, awarded her National B Badge on the day.

An inter-regional competition held the following day provided teams from the South Coast and Riverina regions the opportunity to get additional match play ahead of the HOLDEN State Championships in June.
